This minimal, almost primitive cottage nestled on the edge of a quiet Maine pond will further blend into the landscape as the cedar siding and mill-finish metal roof mature. A cedar trellis spine connects the freestanding garage/guest quarters to the main cottage near the entrance - a discreet transition from exterior to interior. The complimentary roof forms reinforce the elegantly simple architecture, welcoming high natural light while shading direct sun in the summer months, when the pine boards of the high-ceilinged living space softly glow.

Windows graciously ignore neighbors, while capturing light and particular views. The Zen-like screened porch is a perfect place to eavesdrop on the loons.
