To replace a large old boathouse literally over the water that could no longer satisfy the family’s needs, we negotiated a compromise with the town whereby we located this new cottage back a bit from lake’s edge, but far closer than ordinance allows.

Quiet on the outside, with color scheme dictated by family compound covenant, the house blends nicely with extensive hardscape and plantings. Inside, the house expresses the confident, grounded aesthetic of the owners.

Materials are lush but understated, scale is carefully modulated, and views are captured not only by window openings, but by the sculpted forms of each respective room.
